The Nelson AI Sandbox is thrilled to announce the launch of the Vibe-athon, a full-day creative technology event bringing together innovation, collaboration, and AI-driven creativity at NMIT, 322 Hardy Street, Nelson, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
The Vibe-athon is a bold new twist on the traditional hackathon. Instead of writing code manually, participants will use advanced AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to bring their ideas to life. This approach, known as vibe-coding, encourages teams to follow their creative instincts while learning to collaborate effectively with AI.
The event welcomes students, entrepreneurs, creatives, AI enthusiasts, mentors, and tech professionals — anyone curious about how AI can enhance creativity and problem-solving.
No programming experience is required. All you need is curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to explore what AI can do. Participants will have access to mentors, prizes, and the opportunity to showcase their work to the wider Nelson community.
The most outstanding projects will be featured on the Nelson AI Sandbox website, demonstrating what’s possible when people and AI create together.
