Learn how to create AI images and video, with a working videographer in the room to help you improve it.
This practical, three-and a half hour workshop is designed for small business owners with little or no experience using AI creative tools. You’ll work with your own logo, products and photos, using free accounts you can keep after the workshop.
You’ll leave with images you can use and a finished video ready to post.

Do I need to pay for any tools?
No. Everything you create yourself will be made using free accounts that you can keep. The four paid tools are demonstrated using AI Sandbox subscriptions.
Do I need to set up accounts beforehand?
You’ll need to sign in to a couple of free tools on the laptop you bring. We’ll send you the links and simple instructions a few days beforehand so you can check everything works.
If you arrive with an account or laptop problem, we’ll help you get sorted so you don’t miss the workshop.
Do I need a laptop?
Yes. The hands-on work needs to be done on a laptop rather than a phone. Please bring your charger too.
What should I bring?
Bring your laptop, your logo file and four or five photos of your products, services, workplace or team. Save everything directly on your laptop so it is easy to find.
Will I actually make a video?
Yes. You’ll build and export a real video for your business, ready to post before you leave.
The video will be assembled from your own photos, words and branding rather than generated entirely from scratch. This is the type of video most small businesses can realistically make and use regularly.
Do I get to use the paid tools?
The paid tools will be demonstrated live on the big screen using a real local business as the example.
Giving everyone individual access would require twenty separate subscriptions. Instead, you’ll see the tools used properly, understand what each one is good at and decide whether any are worth paying for.
Which paid tools will you demonstrate?
We’ll demonstrate four different approaches: cinematic video generation, directed generation, AI presenters and animation created from your existing brand material.
We’ll also explain what each tool costs and tell you honestly which ones we think most small businesses should and shouldn’t pay for yet.
I’ve never used AI. Is this too advanced?
No. The workshop is designed for beginners, including people who have never generated an image or made a video.
Who is teaching the workshop?
J Norness from the AI Sandbox is presenting alongside Matt Jenke from Silver Eye Films, a Nelson video production company.
Matt makes video for a living and uses AI video tools on real client work. He’ll give you practical feedback and help you identify one useful improvement that will make your video stronger.
Do I need to be good at video?
No. You’re not expected to arrive with video or design skills.
Matt’s role is to help you improve what you’ve made, not to critique it. You’ll receive clear, practical feedback you can use on this video and the next one you create.
Can I send members of my team?
Yes. You can book a place for each person attending.
Private team sessions are also available. These can use your organisation’s products, services, logo and brand material throughout the exercises and demonstrations.
