Find out what Google’s AI can really do for your everyday work.
A friendly, hands-on intro to Gemini and NotebookLM. Three hours. Greenmeadows, Nelson. Friday 12 June.
Google has quietly built one of the most useful AI ecosystems on the market, and most New Zealand businesses are only using a fraction of it. What makes Google different is where its AI lives. Not in a separate app you have to remember to open, but inside the tools your work already runs on: Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Meet and Search. Gemini is the way in, and once you’re there, NotebookLM is one of the most useful things waiting for you. This three-hour, in-person workshop is a friendly, hands-on introduction for Nelson SMEs and professionals new to Gemini, NotebookLM, or both.
We start where you actually need to start: accounts, costs, and what you really need to pay for. Then we get into Gemini side by side with Claude and ChatGPT so you can see, for yourself, where each tool shines and where it does not. We tour the wider Google AI suite, the Gemini app, Gems, Workspace, image and video, so you know what each is for.
The second half is dedicated to NotebookLM, the source-grounded research and synthesis tool that has quietly become one of the most useful AI tools we teach. You will get hands-on with a prepared notebook, then build one of your own.
You will leave knowing where Google AI fits in your week.

FAQ
Do I need a paid Gemini account? No, but most attendees will get the most value from one. We cover accounts and costs in the first module so nobody is stuck.
I already use ChatGPT. Why bother with Gemini? You don’t need to switch. The point is to see Gemini side by side so you can make an informed call about which tool fits which job.
What is NotebookLM? A Google AI tool that reads documents you give it and answers questions strictly from those documents. It’s one of the most useful AI tools we teach.
What do I need to bring? Your laptop and a Google account. Optionally, a few of your own documents for the NotebookLM hands-on.
Is this hands-on or just demos? Both. You’ll see live demos and build your own NotebookLM in the second half.
